This group covers Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Indian and other Asian cuisines that are not Chinese, and the etiquette varies by kitchen. Japanese and Korean restaurants often take reservations for dinner and may add a service charge for large groups; Thai and Vietnamese spots are usually walk-in and quick-turnover. Spice levels are frequently adjustable on request at Thai, Indian and Sichuan-adjacent menus, so say if you want it mild or hot. Korean BBQ restaurants typically charge per person for all-you-can-eat service with a time limit, and grills are shared at the table. Vietnamese pho shops post bowl sizes (regular or large) and a plate of herbs, bean sprouts and lime is normal to add yourself. Card and tap-to-pay are widely accepted; cash-only is more common at small family-run counters.

Had an amazing solo dining experience at Khun Mae Thai. The food was excellentβI ordered the curry puffs, peanut chicken, and pandan dessert, and everything was flavorful and well prepared. The service was especially noteworthy. Although the restaurant was busy, my server remained attentive, friendly, and made sure I had everything I needed throughout the meal. Overall, a great experience with delicious food and outstanding service. I would definitely recommend it.

We showed up without a reservation and were quickly seated. Tried the bamboo salad, kao kra pao and tom yum noodle soup. The food was delicious and service was great! The location is a bit seedy and there were many druggies walking outside of the restaurant.

Iβm a big fan of Thai food and this is my new favorite spot in SF. They specialize in food from the Issan region of Thailand, the only restaurant Iβve found in SF that does so. The pork larb is just phenomenal, as are their papaya salads. They also have wonderful little known dishes like bamboo shoot salad (so delicious) and Thai sun dried beef (itβs marinated, dried and then deep fried, trust me, a bit of the beef with sticky rice is last meal worthy). And the sticky rice, the staple of this cuisine, was perfectly cooked. I will be returning many, many times (the pork larb is worth returning for alone). Iβm so happy that SF finally has a restaurant specializing in Issan food, and that the food is so incredibly good. Oh the service was very good too and the food was presented beautifully. Highly, highly recommend this new spot. Edit: I have eaten here three times now and am even more impressed than I was initially. Every dish Iβve tried has been just phenomenal. The pad kana moo krob was amazing, and the Issan style steamed bamboo shoots were so great with sticky rice. And their glass noodle sausage is so, so good. Itβs fermented in-house and is like a glorious Thai salami that
